Stripe → bexio · Switzerland

Your Stripe payments land in bexio every day, booked correctly.

With fees, refunds, payouts and VAT. Every entry is checked before it is written: the transit account must equal the net payout, or nothing is booked.

The problem

The Stripe export is the same hour of work every month. Or three.

01

Three hours a month

Download the CSV, rebuild the columns, strip out the fees, import into bexio. Then again next month.

02

Fees booked wrong

The payout is net, the revenue is gross. Split the difference badly and your fiduciary sends it back, with an invoice.

03

VAT on foreign customers forgotten

A payment from Germany is not an 8.1 % supply. Without a rule it ends up there anyway, and the VAT return no longer adds up.

How it works

Three steps, then it runs on its own.

No spreadsheets, no imports. You connect two accounts; we do the bookkeeping in between.

  1. 1

    Connect Stripe

One click through Stripe Connect, read-only. We see payments and payouts, never card data, never your login.

  2. 2

    Connect bexio

Sign in to bexio, pick the company, done. We read your chart of accounts and propose the matching accounts: revenue, fees, transit account, VAT codes.

  3. 3

    Lean back

From now on every payment is booked automatically. A dry run precedes every entry; whatever does not add up waits for review instead of landing wrong in the journal.

What gets booked

Everything that happens in your Stripe account.

Every line with the right VAT, on the right account, on the right day.

Sale
Gross to revenue, VAT split off (8.1 %, 2.6 %, 3.8 % or exempt), the rest to the transit account.
Fee
Stripe fees as an expense, with reverse-charge VAT if you want it.
Refund
Revenue reduction with VAT correction, also for last year’s payments at last year’s rate.
Dispute
Chargeback and fee kept apart, reversed again when you win the case.
Payout
From the transit account to the bank, on the day the money arrives, reconciled with the statement.
Foreign currency
EUR, USD, GBP and more at the official daily rate of the Swiss customs office (BAZG). The rate is written into the entry.
TWINT via Stripe
Recognised and booked like any other payment, with the payment method in the history.

For fiduciaries

Your clients on Stripe, without correction entries.

You see every entry with its reference, exchange rate and VAT code before it reaches the journal. Anything ambiguous waits for your approval. You set up the account mapping once and it applies to every payment.

  • Dry run before every entry, invariant transit = net
  • Full traceability: the Stripe reference in every entry
  • Export of all data at any time, deletion at the push of a button

Questions

What companies ask before they start.

Is it safe?

Stripe is connected through Stripe Connect with read-only access; we never see card data and do not know your Stripe password. bexio through OAuth, with tokens encrypted (AES-256) in a database in the EU. You can revoke the connection in both systems at any time.

What about VAT?

Every payment gets a Swiss VAT code: standard, reduced, accommodation, exempt or export. The rule comes from Stripe Tax, from your product metadata or from the customer’s country. The date decides the rate, even for old refunds.

Does it work with TWINT?

Yes, TWINT through Stripe is booked like any other payment. Payments received directly at TWINT, Payrexx, Worldline or SumUp do not pass through Stripe.

And my fiduciary?

They see the same entries you do, with Stripe reference, rate and VAT code. Many fiduciaries set up the account mapping themselves; there is a dedicated access for that.

Can I test it without risk?

Yes. Before any booking you see a dry run with every entry that would be created. Nothing is written until you approve it or switch on automatic mode. And for 2 months it costs nothing.

What about old payments?

You choose a start date. Everything before stays untouched, everything after is booked retroactively, in order and without duplicates.

This month, by hand for the last time.

Create an account, connect Stripe and bexio, look at the dry run. Ten minutes, then it runs.
